We're committed to poultry welfare
Perdue and independent farm family partners share a belief that it is our responsibility to treat the animals in our care with respect. All of our chickens are raised on local farms and cared by independent farm families. The chickens live in cage-free, temperature-controlled housing with fresh-air ventilation; they are protected from elements, disease and predators; and they are given constant access to food and water.
The Perdue Poultry welfare program meets and exceeds the National Chicken Council's "Poultry Care and Well Being Guidelines" and incorporates our own best practices, including training, audits and monitoring, to ensure humane treatment.
Audited and documented practices, designated Poultry Welfare Officers for all of our operations, veterinarians specializing in poultry and the guidance of a Poultry Welfare Council ensure the well being of our chickens and turkeys. All of our producers and all associates who handle live poultry, receive poultry welfare training.
