In large zip-locking bag, add sugar, mustard, salt and pepper. Shake to mix well. Place thighs in bag and shake well. Let sit for 2 minutes and shake again.
Grill thighs directly over medium high heat for 20 to 30 minutes, turning occasionally.
Remove from heat when juices run clear and a meat thermometer inserted sideways into thickest part of thigh reads 180° F.

Just made this tonight and WOW! Didn't expect this to taste so good. I do not really care for dark meat, but this recipe made it easier to eat, now I don't have to give away my dark meat!! I made this with the thighs, legs and wings with the bone in and it still turned out great. I will try this with the chicken breasts.

Yes, this recipe was wonderful. It was very simple. Thank you for creating a recipe for people like me who prefer the dark meat, whether it be turkey or chicken!!!!!

I tried this with both thighs and boneless breast. I am not a huge fan of dark meat, but it was GREAT on the boneless chicken breast. I will make this again!

I loved this recipe. I pounded the thighs first a little just to get them a little more even and provide further tenderization. Mine were browner than the picture and were delicious. Thank you.

We had this for dinner at a friend's house and it was excellent! I usually only eat boneless, skinless chicken breasts, but it was good with the thighs. It reminded me of the chicken BBQ that you get from the VFW's. My husband and I are going to try it using boneless, skinless chicken breasts instead.
