Serves 4
Ingredients
1 can (14 1/2 oz.) crushed tomatoes
1/2 cup prepared barbecue sauce
2 tsp. hot sauce
1 tbsp. red wine vinegar
Dipping Sauce:
1/2 jar (10 oz.) marinated roasted red peppers, drained, diced
2 tbsp. tomato paste
1 clove garlic, minced
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 large very ripe tomato, seeded and finely diced
2 tbsp. minced red onion
Step 1
Preheat grill to medium-high heat. Combine crushed tomatoes, barbecue sauce, hot sauce and vinegar in a small saucepan on the stove. Bring to a simmer and cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, if using wings, separate at joints and discard tips.
TIP
TIP: To prepare Dipping Sauce, stir together all ingredients.
Step 2
Place wings or wingettes on grill and brush with tomato mixture. Cook for 2 to 5 minutes, or until nicely browned. Turn and baste second side. Cook 3 to 5 minutes or until nicely browned and cooked through, turning and moving occasionally. To test for doneness, remove a large wing from grill and cut into it; juices should run clear.
