Ingredients
1 (12 ounce) can of beer
1 tbsp. Vegetable Oil
Seasoning Rub Blend:
1/3 cup Brown Sugar
2 tbsps. Chili Powder
1 tbsp. Smoked Paprika
2 tsps. Thyme
2 tsps. Dry Mustard
1 tsp. Garlic Powder
1 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
Step 1
Preheat an outdoor grill over medium heat to 350°F.
Step 2
Mix seasoning blend in ingredients in a small bowl.
Step 3
Open a can of beer and pour into a food-safe grilling stand.
Step 4
Discard giblets and neck from chicken, drain and pat dry.
Step 5
Lower the chicken onto the beer-filled food safe grilling stand with the legs on the bottom so the chicken is sitting upright.
Step 6
Rub vegetable oil over the entire surface of the chicken. Sprinkle 1 tsp of seasoning rub into the top cavity of the chicken. Rub the remaining seasoning blend over the entire surface of the chicken.
Step 7
Place chicken on the stand, directly on the center of the preheated grill and close the lid. Cook over medium heat until the internal temperature of the thickest part of the thigh reads 170°F (approx. 1hr 15min – cook times will vary).
Step 8
Carefully remove the chicken from the beer stand using tongs and a heat safe plate of cutting board. Cover the chicken with foil and allow to rest for 10 minutes before carving. Discard of the remaining beer in the stand once it is cooled.
